Champions of pluralism are now more important than ever! Global Pluralism Award submissions are being accepted through to June 30, 2020.

April 15, 2020 (Ottawa, Canada) – Given the unprecedented crisis of COVID-19 and the disruptions and uncertainty it has caused for so many organizations and individuals, the deadline for submissions to the Global Pluralism Award is now extended to June 30, 2020.

The Award, presented by the Global Centre for Pluralism, recognizes and supports individuals, corporations, academics, civil society and governments from around the world that are working in creative and high-impact ways to build societies where everyone belongs. Three winners are chosen by an independent, international Jury chaired by the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark, former Prime Minister of Canada to share a prize pool totalling $150,000 CAD. The Centre seeks to amplify the winners’ work with media opportunities, new partnerships, mentorship and other supports.

Bishops Appeal for the Resumption of Peace Processes in Colombia, request adequate protection for Leyner Palacios Asprilla

VATICAN NEWS – In light of escalating conflict in Colombia’s Pacific region, the country’s Catholic Bishops have issued an appeal to the National Government. The Bishops are calling for a return to peace processes and for the protection of communities and social leaders, including 2017 Global Pluralism Award winner Leyner Palacios Asprilla. Leyner is a community leader in the municipality of Bojayá, in Chocó, and Secretary General of the Interethnic Truth Commission for the Pacific Region.

Worldwide Leaders of Inclusion Celebrated at the 2019 Global Pluralism Award

November 21, 2019 (Ottawa, Canada) – The Global Centre for Pluralism, founded by His Highness the Aga Khan and the Government of Canada, recognized the recipients of the 2019 Global Pluralism Award at a ceremony on November 20, 2019 in Ottawa, Canada at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat with His Highness the Aga Khan and the Centre’s Board members including the Rt. Hon. Adrienne Clarkson, Canada’s 26th Governor General. The three award winners are granted CAN $50,000 and in-kind support to advance their work.
